Sounds like this?

  • 'Connected, no internet'
  • 'No internet, secured'
  • Wi-Fi bars full but pages don't load
  • Only one device can't get online

Step by step

  1. Check other devices. If none can get online, it's the router or internet service. If only one can't, it's that device.
  2. Restart the modem and router: unplug both 30 seconds, plug in the modem first, wait for its lights, then the router.
  3. Check your provider's outage page or app.
  4. On the device, forget the network and rejoin.
  5. Windows: Settings › Network & internet › Advanced network settings › Network reset (it will restart). Mac: turn Wi-Fi off and on, and remove VPN profiles you don't use.
  6. Disable VPNs and proxy settings for a test.
  7. Check the date and time are automatic. A wrong clock breaks secure websites.
